BEHIND THE LENS

Hello, I am Kelsey

I'm Kelsey — a photographer based in Victor, Idaho, which I got to by way of Phoenix, Denver, and a tiny RV that changed everything.

I started taking photos because I wanted to remember the places I was hiking to. Alpine lakes, wide open skies, the kind of views that make you stop mid-trail. Somewhere along the way, I realized the most interesting thing in the frame was actually the people in it — and that became everything.

I live here with my husband and our rescue dog Mochi. On days off, you'll find me at an alpine lake with a walking tamales, on cross-country skis with Mochi running next to me, or at the pottery studio watching my husband be annoyingly good at something I'm still figuring out. This place is my whole life — and it shows up in every session I shoot.

How I edit

My sessions aren't about getting through a shot list. They're about finding the version of you that comes out when you stop thinking about the camera — the laugh that happens mid-sentence, the moment you forget I'm even there.

I'll hype you up when you look incredible. I'll laugh with you when a pose feels weird and find something better. Some moments will feel like a magazine shoot. Others will be completely goofy. Both end up being your favorites. That's the goal.

When it comes to editing, I photograph people as they are, and I mean that. I'm not smoothing out your wrinkles, making you taller, or slimming you down. Those edits erase the things that make you you. What I will remove are the temporary things — a stray hair, a momentary blemish, the granola bar wrapper that somehow ended up in the background. Real people, real moments, honestly captured.

You Might Be My People If...

You're down to sit in the grass for a photo. You don't need to climb a mountain — sometimes it's a flat four-minute walk from the parking lot that gets us the most insane backdrop — but you're up for a little adventure to get the good stuff.

You want photos that look like you, not a version of you that performed for a camera.

You're the "we are definitely not model material" couple who end up with the best gallery. The family whose kids haven't sat still once in their lives. The person who wants to celebrate themselves and has no idea what to do with their hands. Perfect. That's exactly where the good photos happen.

Every kind of love is welcome here — LGBTQ+ couples, different backgrounds, unconventional families. If that's a problem for anyone, the door is right there.

You don't have to be photogenic. You just have to show up. I'll handle the rest.

Kelsey did an outstanding job! She was flexible, accommodating our preferences and allowing us to set the overall tone of the session. Her guidance with posing was especially helpful and contributed to the high quality of the photos. I would highly recommend her!
